Basement Fire on Riga Street

At 1458 hours today, Engine 251 was dispatched for smoke coming from the house at 5305 Riga Street. Engine 251 arrived on scene to find an unoccupied single family home with thick smoke flowing from the basement windows. The crew pulled a 1 3/4 inch attack line, located the fire and did a quick job of extinguishing. Engine 29’s crew pulled a backup line and assisted the crew from Truck 32 in locating any fire extension. Units from Brandywine and District Heights also assisted on scene. Unit were placed back in service at 1628 hours. Thanks to Boulevard Heights for covering our station during this incident.

Fire at Chalk Point Power Plant

At 0942 hours on 7/29/2008, Clinton Volunteers were dispatched to a reported fire in the scrubber unit at the Chalk Point Power Plant in Aquasco.  Truck 25, Water Supply 25 and the Support Unit responded with a total of eight volunteers.

Upon arrival, the Water Supply Company laid 1000′ of large diameter hose to support elevated operations for Prince Frederick Tower 2.  Units operated on scene for over three hours.

New Vice President Elected During July Business Meeting

Due to the recent resignation of Vice President Dave Rucker, the membership held a special election during Monday evenings monthly business meeting.  Life Member and Board of Director Richard Small was unanimously chosen to replace Dave Rucker.  Life Member Jerry Spence was selected to replace Richard Small on the Board of Directors.  Spence was opposed by Tommy Russell and Keith Hopkins.

The entire membership is grateful to Dave Rucker for his many years of dedicated service to the department as an Executive Officer, Line Officer and Firefighter.
