Fire at St. Barnabas Road

At 1741 hours public safety communications dispatched the second alarm for a working building fire at the 3800 block of St. Barnabas Road. Chief 25A, Engine 251, Water Supply 25 and Water Support Unit’s arrived on scene. Water supply Company 25 was dispatched with directions to stage at company 29. As the water supply company arrived, communications announced a mayday for two firefighters, from companies 27 and 29. Water Supply 25 was redirected on the fire ground with the assignment of Rapid Intervention Team. After the fire was deemed out and under control, Company 25 was assigned to assist with utilities on the fire floor. While carrying out orders one member of Company 25 crew became ill and was assisted outside to the awaiting medic unit. Company 25 cleared the scene @ 1928 after operating approx. 2 1/2 hrs. The two maydays were cleared with fire fighters being uninjured. All companies worked well together, leading to the rapid and thorough extinguishment of the fire.
