Clinton Founding Member Inducted Into PG County Founders’ Circle
by Sally ~ September 29th, 2008. Filed under: News.Clinton VFD Founding Member, T. Alan Penn, was inducted into the PG County Founders’ Circle at a ceremony held on September 27th. The ceremony also included the annual memorial service for all PG County fallen fire fighters. President Scott Kaiser, Chief Robert Small, Secretary Sally Brown, and Bill Belfield attended the ceremonies as well as Mr. Penn’s son, Tommy, and his wife. The ceremonies opened with remarks by PGCVF&RA President Buddy King, PGCVR&A Ladies Auxiliary President Ann McGill, and PGF/EMS Department Chief Lawrence Sedgwick. It continued with the unveiling of the Memorial Stone and recognition of the Line of Duty Death of Capt George Linnell, Landover Hills VFD. At that point, heavy rain began and the service was moved inside the Fire Services Building. Eleven members were inducted into the Founders’ Circle. A reading of the names of our fallen fire fighters and a tribute to those who lost their lives on 9-11 completed the ceremonies. Lunch was provided after and when the rain abated the families were able to view the names of the eleven new inductees engraved on the Founders’ Circle stones.
