Basement Fire on Riga Street
by John Maine ~ July 30th, 2008. Filed under: News.At 1458 hours today, Engine 251 was dispatched for smoke coming from the house at 5305 Riga Street. Engine 251 arrived on scene to find an unoccupied single family home with thick smoke flowing from the basement windows. The crew pulled a 1 3/4 inch attack line, located the fire and did a quick job of extinguishing. Engine 29’s crew pulled a backup line and assisted the crew from Truck 32 in locating any fire extension. Units from Brandywine and District Heights also assisted on scene. Unit were placed back in service at 1628 hours. Thanks to Boulevard Heights for covering our station during this incident.
