| At 2220 hours this evening, Engine 255 was alerted for a motor vehicle accident in the 7300 block of Old Alexandria Ferry Road. While enroute, communications advised units responding that reports were being received that possibly two people were trapped.
Upon arrival, OIC Sgt. Maine established command and after size up determined that two patients were in fact trapped, one of which was a trauma code. Command requested an additional squad and a medic unit to assist. The crew from Engine 255 initiated CPR on the Trauma Code patient and provided pre-hospital care to the other.
Squad 74 (Andrews AFB) arrived on scene and immediately went to work on extracting the more serious patient and care was then transferred to Ambulance 239. Squad 8 made quick work of freeing the second patient and after evaluation by Medic 26, it was determined that the patient should be flown to the nearest trauma center. Engine 255 handled landing zone responsibilities at a nearby Elementary School.
Units cleared the scene at approximately 2345 hours. |
