| On behalf of the Executive and Chief Officers, we want to extend our gratitude to all the members who had a part in extinguishing the many fires around the county during the previous 36 hours. Some of you had just a few hours rest and fought through it, while others came from home and knowing they had to work the next day, stayed as long as they could to help out. Whether you were on scene fighting the fires, fueling apparatus, cooking, cleaning, running to the grocery stores, shuttling members or preparing the Kenworth for one last battle; you all worked very, very hard and we're extremely grateful and proud.
It was a day we all shall remember, that's for sure.
I'm very happy that none of the close calls I heard about ended up injuring anyone, for that we are blessed. Nothing but kind words and respect were repeated by our visiting brothers/sisters, as well as the command staff stationed upstairs for nearly 24 hours. |
