| The PG County 35th Annual Valor Awards presentations were made at a luncheon at Martin's Crosswinds on April 25th. Awards were presented to members of the Prince George's county police, sheriff, corrections, homeland security and fire/ems departments. Member Ashley Butler and career fire fighter/medics Eddie Scott and Billy Philpott received awards for their actions in saving a little five year old girl suffering from an asthma attack. Shortly after their arrival on the scene with our engine and beginning treatment of the patient, her lips started turning blue, her respirations began to decrease and she coded. A check with communications indicated that the ambulance and medic unit were still at least five minutes out, The decision was made to transport the child to Southern Maryland Hospital on the engine. She was revived on the engine enroute to the hospital; and after spending three days in the hospital, is now home and doing very well. Eddie Scott received the Silver Medal of Valor and Ashley and Billy Philpott received Bronze Medals of Valor. The little girl, her mother, and her grandmother attended the ceremonies.
