The Open House held on Saturday May 7, 2011 was quite a successful event. From the start a "Rockin" DJ, had folks dancing and singing, the Moonbounce was filled with laughing youngsters, and folks traveled throughout the building and grounds looking over all the displays and activities. Free hot dogs, drinks, popcorn and Italian Ice fueled the crowd to be involved with the games, contests and other attractions provided. The facepainting and smoke trailer displays were really big hits too. The Fire Prevention poster contest drew folks to the tables where free literature was available, covering home safety ideas and suggestions. Chick-Fil-A, PNC Bank, Prince George's County Sheriff's office, were on hand doing promotions and giving free gifts for anyone who stopped by. At noon the crew from Rescue Company 40 (Brandywine VFD) demonstrated the extrication techniques required to safely and efficiently remove a victim trapped in a wrecked vehicle. This was followed by a Three O'clock firefighting demonstration by our own Clinton Volunteers. A simulated auto fire was staged and folks were quickly impressed by the effective manner in which a fully fire engulfed car was extinguished. Many thanks to those sponsors and support groups which helped make this event a success. Thank you B.K. Miller Co., Denison Landscaping, Wal-Mart of Clinton. Thanks also to our fellow fire departments for their support and assistance, Brandywine VFD and St. Leonard VFD. We are proud of the support and dedication of our members, without whom we would never have made this event a memory.
