While members were preparing for our annual Open House, the station received a phone call from a resident on Pembroke Drive reporting smoke coming from the house next door. Members quickly staffed Engine 251, 255 and Truck 25 and headed to the location in North Clinton.

Engine 251 (Sgt. Maine) laid a 3" supply line at the hydrant in the 7400 block on Pembroke Drive and reported smoke billowing from the eaves on side Bravo. Truck 25 arrived right behind Engine 251 and took a position on Side Alpha, with Engine 251 posting up on side Bravo. Engine 255 took the hydrant on Pembroke Lane and secured a water supply for the Wagon. Capt. Mason, Truck 25, took the initial command until the arrival of Deputy Chief Pat Howard.

The Truck crew handled forcible entry and FF Cheeks advanced a 1 3/4" attack line inside the single story home. Sgt. Maine and FF Cheeks located the small fire and it was quickly extinguished. The Truck crew, led by Capt. Mason, completed a primary and secondary search of the residence. Both were negative. Command held the three units from Clinton as well as Truck 29 (Sliver Hill).

The Truck Crew from 25, (Driver Roth, Lt. Powell, Sgt. Rivera and FF McConnell) and Truck 29 vented the residence and assisted in pulling walls and ceilings to ensure there was no extension.

Since no residents were home at the time, Command requested units from the Fire Investigation Division to assist in determining the cause. A crew from PEPCO assisted on scene by securing power to the home.

The crews from 25 assisted with overhaul operations before being placed in service. Units operated on scene for approximately 2 hours.
