Today we remembered our own fallen members, Richard Whittington and James Herbert in Annapolis, Maryland with the Maryland Fire and Rescue Services Memorial. Members of the Clinton Volunteer Fire Department, Chief Robert Small, Kara Small, Acting Assistant Chief Chris White, Lt. Zak Kipple, Mary Berneski and visiting fireman, Dirk Steinhardt from a suburb of Munich, Germany, were all on hand to assist.

The most exhilarating memorial news this year was that we commemorated a year with no additional names placed on the wall! Adding to the excitement was our hometown guest speaker, Senator Mike Miller, who entertained the audience with stories about the Clinton Volunteer Fire Department and historical tidbits.

Severe weather threatened to cut the service short and leave everyone drenched but we were able to complete the ceremony in the nick of time. To all who came today to honor our fallen fire and rescue services personnel, we thank you for taking time out of your busy schedules.

Marking its first official detail, the “new” Truck 25 was beautifully displayed along with Hollywood’s Truck 7 as the arch with the Maryland Flag. Truck 25 made the bold announcement that the Clinton Volunteer Fire Department is back in the truck business with our own “new” ladder truck.
