Fire Destroys Home in Cheltenham

by admin ~ June 7th, 2007. Filed under: Fires, News.

DSC_0415Just after 3PM on June 7 a box alarm was dispatched to 10209 Rockview Terrace for a house on fire. Engine 251 (Clinton VFD) arrived on the scene first with heavy smoke showing. Chief 25 (Small) arrived a short time later, established command, and advised he had a large two-story single family dwelling with heavy smoke showing from all floors and requested a fire task force.

They had a partial roof collapse early on in the incident and had to evacuate the dwelling. Truck 82 (Waldorf) was put in service with the ladder pipe to knock the bulk of the fire down at that time before crews were let back in the dwelling for overhaul. The cause of the fire is under investigation. The house was a total loss.

Two firefighters were transported to the burn center. Chief 40A (Prather) assumed the command early on in the incident and Chief 25 had operations.
